Maher Zain - ماهر زين

Maher Zain, auteur/compositeur suédois d'origine libanaise, né le 16 juillet 1981. Son père, chanteur à Tripoli au Liban, a été sa première source d'inspiration musicale. Amoureux de musique, Maher eut son premier instrument de musique à l'âge de 10 ans, depuis, la musique a pris une place très importante dans sa vie. Maher et sa famille allèrent en Suède quand il avait 8 ans. Il poursuivit ses études là-bas et obtint son diplôme en génie aéronautique. Après cette réussite, il alla à New-York où il a travaillé pendant environ 3 ans avec le célèbre producteur de musique RedOne, ensemble, ils ont produit le premier album de Kat DeLuna qui contient les tubes "Whine Up" et "Run The Show". Malgrés son succès, Maher sentait qu'il y avait quelque chose de faux dans sa vie, "j'aimais la musique, mais je détestais tout ce qui m'entourait" déclara-t-il. De retour en Suède, il a rencontré un groupe de musulmans actifs dans la société musulmane à Stockholm, et a commencé à fréquenter une mosquée locale régulièrement. Il dit avoir ressenti qu'il a trouvé la paix et le droit chemin. Avec la nouvelle vague des chanteurs religieux, Maher a tenté de reprendre la musique dans ce nouveau registre. Cette tentative a été une réussite, car il s'est fait remarqué sur YouTube avec 6 millions de vues pour son clip Insha'Allah, au bout de 8 mois. Quant à son compte facebook, il ne compte pas moins de 2 millions de fans, ce qui est un record pour un chanteur arabo-musulman. Maher, chanteur musulman, croit au pouvoir de la chanson et à son influence, qu'il veut positive, sur les jeunes.
